  • Notes 
    • It is my belief that Gregory Ebbert is the brother of Conrad Ebbert. There are several reasons for this:

      1. Both trace their birth back to Fulda, Germany.
      2. When Conrad died in 1885, Gregory is appointed as one of the executors of the estate.
      3. Gregory and Mary lived at 2500 Market Street for nearly their entire time in Wheeling. Over the years, we see various Ebberts outside the family besides their children boarding at this address. One of these is Kate Ebbert, daughter of Conrad Ebbert. It seems that many young adults from farms outside Wheeling went to live in the "big city" with their uncle until they were married or otherwise establishing their own residences. Unfortunately the house no longer stands.

      The only evidence I can find against this is on his death certificate which lists his father as "John", versus "Marcus or Marquiss" who is cited as the father of Conrad.
